Fees Eligibility How to register

There is no school activity based fee for sports and activities but there may be individual sport/activity fees. Juneau School District has a scholarship fund available.

The Juneau School District Activities Scholarship fund is intended to make high school activities available to all students by offsetting activity costs for students. Students will not be restricted from being awarded more than one (1) scholarship per school year, so that student participation may be maximized. Students may not be required to fund raise as a condition of participating in an activity, except that they may be required to fund raise in group opportunities in order to be eligible to travel in connection with the activity. Scholarships may be applied to pay for up to 50% of team participation fees (with a cap of $250 per student per activity), required uniforms or equipment, travel or for per diem.

Students must meet the eligibility requirements of the Juneau School District and the Alaska School Activities Association to participate in ASAA activities. See Student Handbook pages 25-29

The JSD Board of Education has implemented a random drug testing program as a condition of participation in competitive extracurricular athletic activities at the high school level. For more information on this policy -BP1432

The TAD (Tobacco, Alcohol and Drug) policy of ASAA requires students and parents to watch a video (Play for Keeps) and sign an acknowledgement form.

For more information on the TAD policy and the "Play for Keeps" video click here.

Thunder Mountain conducts a Parent/Student participation session prior to or within the first week of the activity. The following forms are required:

  • Health Exam form - signed by doctor, student and parent/guardian. Health exams are good for one year and must be current through the season of the sport.
  • High School Extra-curricular Participation Agreement form here
  • Student Athlete Mandatory Drug Testing Program form here

  • ASAA TAD Policy acknowledgement form here
