Softball is an exciting sports program at Thunder Mountain High School. Our program is in its 3rd year and we are thrilled to have new and returning student-athletes. We hold open gyms (which consist in conditioning, running, throwing, catching and hitting softballs) throughout the fall and winter months with the purpose in mind to keep the student- athletes involved in something positive.

Open gyms are not mandatory; however we feel that participation is important in building team chemistry, sharpening softball skills and staying in good physical /mental condition.

Pre-season starts in February and the regular season runs from the beginning of March through the end of May. Regular season consists of 22 games. Teams in our conference include Ketchikan and Sitka. Last season we played non-conference games against Kodiak, Homer and North Pole.

We are hoping to raise enough funds to take the team either South or Anchorage this upcoming season (if we can raise enough money). The player participation fee is $200 and the equipment fee is an additional $150. Together the team will do many fundraisers which helps offset the cost of new gear and travel fees. There is a scholarship available for those who cannot afford to pay the fees. However, you must be able to prove that you do qualify for this benefit. We are in desperate need of parent volunteers to help us fundraise and get our booster club going.

Our team philosophy is hard-work, dedication and commitment to family, school and the team. The coaching staff believes that you can achieve anything that you set your mind to it. We have a nurturing and experienced coaching staff that will help the student-athlete to develop the necessary skills to succeed both on and off the field. We look forward to this upcoming season. Go Falcons!
